How to choose

Stone or metal?

The STORMA CNC 3D is built for marble and granite — diamond tooling, water cooling, stone-specific CAM. The bridge-type 3D machining centre works steel, aluminium and composite. Same architecture, different tooling and coolant strategy.

Working volume

Sculpture and architectural work is defined by block size, not slab size. Tell us the largest piece you intend to produce and we will size the working area — retrofitting a larger envelope later is not practical.

Software and scanning

DDX Easystone CAM handles stone-specific toolpaths. Artec 3D laser scanning captures an existing piece and reproduces it — essential for restoration work, where the reference is a damaged original rather than a drawing.

Spindle power

Continuous 3D machining in hard stone is demanding. The 32.5 HP Saccardo main motor with ABB inverter allows speed to be matched to material hardness from the operator panel.

No. The machine takes the rough carving and the repetitive work; the craftsman’s hand comes in at the final detail. CNC reduces months of roughing to days and makes the same piece reproducible at consistent accuracy.

Which stones can be machined in 3D?

Medium-hardness stones such as marble, travertine, onyx and limestone are the most suitable. Hard stones like granite and basalt can also be machined, but require higher torque, slower feed rates and more frequent tool changes.
